About Les Deux Alpes Ski Area
Les Deux Alpes sits high up in the Oisans region, with a ski area ranging from 1300m to 3600m in altitude where you'll find one of Europe's largest skiable glaciers.
This altitude gives the resort snow-sure conditions most of the year round and with the neighbouring off piste mecca of La Grave, the area offers some truly world class skiing.
There are 225 kilometres of pistes here, covering an area of 425 hectares. The 47 ski lifts and a funicular on the glacier give you access to a total of 96 pistes of which 17 are green, 45 are blue, 22 are red and 12 are black.
The ski area in Les Deux Alpes is split into two areas, the Valley Blanche sector and the Glacier side, where the majority of the pistes can be found. On this side of the valley, most of the runs are west-facing and enjoy quite a lot of sunshine. From the glacier you can actually ski blue pistes all the way back to resort, with a descent of around 2000 metres.
For those searching for more natural terrain, Les 2 Alpes has a lot of great off-piste terrain. Neighbouring La Grave is a raw and unforgiving off-piste, glaciated area. The skiing and snowboarding there is for mountain purists who like un-pisted routes and the natural feel of wilderness at altitude. Just remember to hire a guide to show you around and make sure you have all the necessary safety equipment with you.
Rather uniquely Les Deux Alpes also has a vibrant summer ski scene with snowparks up on the glacier, well-groomed pistes as well as gentle nursery slopes. It attracts ski teams, racers and freestyle skiers and snowboarders from around the world.
