Bars and nightlife in Les 2 Alpes

The best places to go for a night out

featured in Nightlife guide Updated

Les 2 Alpes wouldn't be the resort it is without a good dose of après-ski to end the day.

There is no shortage of places to go for a few drinks and some live music after a day on the mountain.

Whether you prefer to soak up the late afternoon sun with a quiet glass of French wine or dance on the tables in your ski boots, beer jug in hand, Les 2 Alpes has plenty of great spots when the lifts shut for the day.

Après-ski

With a lively and vibrant après-ski scene, Les 2 Alpes has plenty of spots opening their doors to welcome you off the pistes.

If you want to get the party started before the final run of the day, at 2,600m near to the Jandri mid-station you'll find The Pano Bar, where things generally kick off at 15:00. Expect resident and guest DJs and varied entertainers that include a sax player, an amazing balloon sculptor, and dancers. Be prepared...it can get pretty wild. Also on the mountain, but a little calmer, is Diable au Coeur. DJs and a heated terrace bar, but without the same volume of music.

Down in the village, the liveliest place for après-ski and only open until 19:00 is Umbrella Bar. Located at the foot of the Coolidge slope at the Côte Brune Hotel, DJ's spin the tunes and dancing on the bar is encouraged! The umbrella roof is opened in good weather and it's a great place to dance as the sun is setting.

Over in the main square Smokey Joes has live music six days a week and a selection of craft beers from their microbrewery in Bourg, plus a pool table and free WiFi. There is no terrace but much more space indoors than the other popular après-ski spots, so it's a good choice on bad weather days.

In addition to these popular spots there are plenty of pubs and bars to choose from, often with live acoustic music. Just head along the main street and you'll find the Windsor Pub, Secret Bar, Polar Bear Pub and Red Frog catering to British tastes, whilst the Motown Café, Mezzanine Bar, and Lutins Bar are more French in style.

What's On in Les 2 Alpes December 2017

Late nights

If you're looking for some late night fun you're in luck, there are several bars and clubs in resort that stay open until the early hours of the morning. Many don't get going until after 22:00. Rue des Vikings (up by the Diable lift) turns into a lively little street and has several bars worth stopping in at including The Jukebox, Melt-In_Art, K-ré Shooter Bar, Polar Bear Pub, The Spot and Rhumerie.

After midnight, popular dancing spots include Smithy's and the Grotte du Yeti on the Place de Venosc. These don’t open any later than the rest of the bars, but they do attract the crowds later on with live DJs and a good party reputation.

After the bars close (around 02:00) the Café Brasilien is the destinations of choice for those not ready to head home. Busy until 04:00 or 05:00 with a mixture of resident and guest DJs pumping out the tunes.

Wine bars

If you're looking for a more civilised evening or have something to celebrate, there are several hotel bars in the resort that cater to wine enthusiasts, cocktail aficionados and casual drinkers alike, and many will also have live music. Some offer a little snack alongside your choice of beverages, ranging from a bowl of nibbles to an entire tapas board.

On Avenue de la Muzelle Wine Not? Bar has an excellent selection of wines, and serves tapas and shared platters. For an early evening lounge bar vibe you should try K.re Shooter Lounge...just remember after about 22:00 it's a bit more of a dancefloor venue with punters eager to sample at least one of the 150+ cocktails and shooters on its menu.

Live music

Live music is not that hard to find in Les Deux Alpes. From the smallest bar to the swanky hotel lounges, there's always something on. Specific information regarding weekly line ups can be easily found by simply looking at any of the numerous information boards around resort, where each of the individual bars will post their weekly programmes and promotions.

One that's pretty obvious from its name is Jukeboxx Bar, from DJs to live bands this bar has a good reputation, and if you get hungry there's tapas. There's also Polar Bear Pub, where you'll always find music of some kind, and it's open until 01:30.
