2 Apes opens for mountain biking in October

No half-term skiing, but lifts will resume for bikers & walkers

featured in News & reviews Author Alex Armand - TipTop Ski Coaching, Les 2 Alpes Reporter Updated

Following on from our previous article about the glacier and global warming, the resort has announced that there will be no skiing during the October holidays. Despite the recent snowfall there isn’t enough coverage on the glacier to open for the Autumn half-term this year. The decision has been made on grounds of safety.

The resort will open the Jandri Express and Vénosc lifts for mountain biking and walkers, with the funicular will also open to allow walkers to view the glacier from 3400m. The opening dates have been amended, and the above lifts will be open on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st of October, and on the last weekend of the holidays from Thursday until Sunday, 25th to 28th of October. The lifts will not open on Monday 22nd, Tuesday 23rd or Wednesday 24th.

The price of the lift passes for walkers or mountain bikers has not yet been confirmed, but will be updated as soon as we have more information, so watch this space. Les Deux Alpes is a beautiful place and doesn’t need skiing to be enjoyed. The mountain biking is second to none, and there is hiking for every level. We are all sad there is no skiing but will make the most of the other great activities on offer.
