A family run hotel since 1968 with a fantastic reputation and famous for its warm and friendly welcome.

Located at the foot of the pistes, this chalet style hotel combines comfort with a modern designer style and a cosy feel.

The 34 rooms include 4 junior suites, ideal for families. Each room has an en suite bathroom with either a bath or shower and most have a balcony with breathtaking views over the beautiful Massif de la Muzelle. The rooms are equipped with satellite TV, telephone, hairdryer and a safe for your valuable belongings.

Furnished in wood with a décor of warm colours, rich fabrics and leather, this hotel has a cosy atmosphere where guests can unwind. After a day on the slopes you can relax in the hotel's jacuzzi and sauna or treat yourself to a massage.

Worth knowing

The family also run their own ski hire shop, located just 50 metres from the main lift.

What's the place like?

The Restaurant

Hotel guests can choose to eat in the comfort of the traditional wood-paneled dining room or on the large sunny terrace, each offering a slightly different menu based on fresh seasonal produce. Both are also open to the public, should you wish to dine with friends.

What's nearby?

Towns nearby

The local market town of Bourg d'Oisans only a 20 to 30 minute drive away can supply pretty much everything a visitor would need - decent sized supermarket, garages, car hire, vet (don't forget to get Fido wormed for the trip home) and the rest, not to mention a thriving Saturday market and numerous cafés, ideal on a sunny weekend.

Restaurants nearby

2 Alpes caters for everyone from the gourmet to the fast food fan. At the top end, the Chalet Hotel Mounier offers tasting menus and an extensive wine list, and the Raisin d'Ours is owner-run by the Mounier's Michelin-starred former chef. Les Sagnes serves excellent crepes and a range of local specialities in a rustic atmosphere in front of a roaring log fire. Tribeca at one end of town and l'Etable at the other both have great pizzas, and anyone looking for a decent burger 'n' chips need look no further than the British-run Le Takeaway in the centre of town.

Sights nearby

The pretty village of La Grave, notorious for its challenging off-piste terrain is about 30 minutes away by road - ride the old gondola for some of the most spectacular mountain views in the region. The ride up to Pic Blanc at Alpe d'Huez an hour away offers views of distant Mont Blanc. Further afield you can tour the Chartreus distillery at Voiron on the other side of Grenoble, visit the museum and grounds of the chateau at Vizille on the D1091, or take a ride on the old funicular railway at St Hilaire du Touvet towards Chambery.

Golf-clubs nearby

The nine-hole course at 2 Alpes starts appearing out of the snow around May, and is open for business when the resort opens for summer in June. Golfers looking for more of a challenge should head for the course at Uriage les Bain near Grenoble, just over an hour's drive away.

Lifts/Pistes nearby

From the Venosc end of town the new high speed Diable chair takes you in comfort to the top of the Cretes and thence up the SuperDiable to the centre of the lift system at Toura. The Jandri Express runs from the centre of town to the snowpark at Toura and then on to the glacier, and the Belle Etoile and Village chairs run from the other end of town up to Cretes at 2100m. Beginners are well served by a series of drag lifts at the bottom of the pistes right next to the town.

Nightlife nearby

2 Alpes has a well-deserved reputation as a party town. The fun starts daily at the Pano Bar at 2600m, with a regular DJ. Later you can find live music and DJs at British-run bars Smithy's Tavern, Smokey Joe's and The Secret, and follow it up with a visit to the popular Avalanche nightclub next door to Smithy's. The Boardroom is popular with French seasonnaires, instructors and lifties, the Red Frog and Smokey Joe's show big screen sport, and the Brasilienne has a late-night club atmosphere.

  • "Fantastic family run hotel - I've sure enough visited my part of 3-star hotels in the Alps in my life, but this one I must say is by far the best one ever ! Since some years I've been forunate enough to be able to stay at 5-star hotels on my vacations, but as this trip was work-related we booked this 3-stared hotel which proved to be a true gem ! Great location, fantastic staff, GREAT beds, good breakfast, very good bar service (in/out). And the lift just outside (3 meters!) well that puts the suger on top. Will definitively book it if I ever end up in L2A again." - Trip Advisor
  • "Charming beautiful cosy hotel - My wife and i stayed for 3 nights at Hotel Les Melezes in a superior room with balcony and were very impressed. The lounge with fireplace is so nice and cosy. The rooms are very clean, charming and traditional alpine style with wood..The dinners were not the best but still very good and definitely good value for what you pay for as a half-board hotel option. Will highly recommend this hotel for sure." - Trip Advisor
  • "Lovely hotel with really friendly helpful staff - Stayed here for a late snowboarding trip and we were not disappointed. The hotel staff are really knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The whole hotel is really clean, even the ski lockers get cleaned out! Food was really good too although and they do cater well for all tastes as long as you tell them upfront. If you're a really fussy eater it may not be the place for you. If you like cheese though, it definitely is. Highly recommend this hotel, the manager Aurelie is superb. She really made sure our stay was excellent and it was. Les deux alpes is a great resort too, especially if you like a Snow Park or two. Hotel location is great for the lifts too." - Trip Advisor
