Since 2004, Les Deux Alpes has played host to the Mondial VTT – a mega mountain biking event where fans of the sport can live out every one of their mountain biking fantasies within a 12000 m2 exhibition area and on the surrounding trails of the resort. read more...

As of the 1st July 2008, it will become law in France that motorised vehicles must carry a warning triangle and a high-visibility security vest - and yes, that techincally includes holidaymakers who drive themselves from the UK to Chamonix for a ski holiday for example. read more...

Get out your hiking boots, dust off your mountain bike and slap on the sun cream – summer is officially here! Today the lifts open to walkers and bikers and we can get back up the mountain after what seems like far too long. For those of you who just can't wait until next winter the glacier pistes and snowpark are also open every day from 7.15am to 1.30pm. All the lifts in resort are due to remain open until 30th August. read more...

Warren Smith & Lawrence Dallaglio Get On Their Bikes!

Verbier local and British freeskier Warren Smith has been set a new challenge – this time on wheels rather than skis! Last winter Lawrence Dallaglio, the former England rugby international and Wasps captain, took to the slopes of Verbier for 3 days of ski coaching with Warren, culminating in tackling the 35% descent of Mont Fort. Whilst chatting on a chairlift Lawrence invited Warren to take part in a charity bike ride with him and a few other sportsmen; possibly before realising the extent of the challenge Warren happily agreed. Now Warren is in training for a 933km tour across the French Pyrenees! read more...

The Refuge de l’Aigle in La Grave has become the subject of a battle between the Club d’Alpin Francais (CAF) who own the refuge and a local support group. The CAF has put in a request to demolish the existing hut to be replaced by a more modern structure, giving more beds, more comfort for mountaineers and the guardian and better-positioned away from the prevailing wind. read more...

Was it Batman that used to say “Holy Moly”? Well even if it wasn’t that’s the only way to describe the amount of snow that’s fallen across the Alps this weekend! It’s incredible! Many of you will have already received our Dump Alert this morning, letting you know that the snow has been falling pretty constantly for the last three days. I cleared nearly 2 feet of snow from my car this weekend after just a few hours of snowfall, and if the ploughs hadn’t been clearing like crazy, we would have knee deep powder in town! read more...
