Once in resort there is really no need to drive - you can walk from one end to the other in approximately 20 minutes (slightly more if allowing for clunky ski boots!) and there is also a free bus service to save your tired ski legs. Ski resorts are trying to cut down on the amount of traffic, partly to avoid congestion and partly because of environmental concerns regarding snow levels and glacial shrinkage. However, if you have arrived in your car and need somewhere to leave it for the duration there are multiple options...
You can park for free all along Avenue de la Muzelle, the main road that runs through the resort. It can get busy however, so it is sometimes best to arrive early, bag your space and leave the car there until you have to go.
There is secure covered parking in Place de Venosc, which is free during the summer season and pay and display in winter. Rates in winter are as follows:
Hourly: 1h: €0.80 / 2h: €1.10 / 3h: €1.40 Day: €7 72h: €14 Week: €35
Les Deux Alpes 1800 is serviced by a network of free covered car parks that lead out either into the residential buildings or onto the pedestrianised streets.
Motorhomes can park for free throughout the resort during the day - from 7am to 10pm, after which the camp site Champ du Moulin (0476 80 07 38) in Venosc is open and equipped to cater for camping cars. Venosc is linked to 2 Alpes by a ten minute cable car ride (during the day) that is included on your ski pass. However, from the beginning of March 2010, there will be a new parking area available for camper vans (complete with hook up facilities) at the entrance to the resort. Parking here will cost €7 for 24 hours. |
