Deux Alpes Snow Report: 7th March 2014
Rod's been mostly spending this week in La Grave..
Rod is in La Grave this week (which is connected to L2A via the glacier liaison).
It has been an amazing week!! We started with a couple of days of fresh snow and then its been blue skies and cold temperatures every day since Tuesday.
We have skied some of the hairier couloirs like infamous Trifide 1 (see pic) and got first tracks and freshies every day in hidden bowls and through the trees.
Yesterday we also played in the big moguls lower down after lunch at the Evariste Chancel Refuge (see pic). A highlight of the season. Teton Gravity Research (the extreme ski video crew) were there filming, and I helped out by taking some photos of the lines they planned and sending them up to the skiers waiting at the top - interesting to watch and the Pros skied some scary stuff!! (pic with camera in foreground) (More pics of that on my BASS L2A FB page)
This week was a bit unusual as it was a first time collaboration with American adventure ski specialist NASTC from Tahoe, but BASS L2A takes advanced skiers over to La Grave for day trips most weeks. We also skied L2A that was the off piste down to La Fee - we are the little ants in the bowl!
Lots of steeps, lots of powder and lots of Tartiflette :)
