Updated

The ski area is so vast it can be difficult to know where to start, so we have put together some of our favourite runs throughout the Les 2 Alpes ski area.

Whether you're into moguls, steep and long descents or simply beautiful, quiet pistes with great snow, we hope that these suggestions will hit the spot.

Beginners

Start your skiing career on the green runs of the Bas des Pistes area all along the Jandri side of resort. This offers everything from really almost flat up to nearly a blue run, allowing fast progression without having to trek for miles.

Best of the blues

Head to the glacier to enjoy the best snow conditions and some of the easiest cruisy blues. Runs on the glacier itself offer spectacular views from Mont Blanc in the north to the Parc des Ecrins in the south. The Signal takes you down off the glacier, and back at the top of the chair you can mosey along to mid station via the Jandri runs.

Lac Noir 1 and Lac Noir 2 pistes offer great easy skiing and a fun view of the park and the boarder-cross from the chairs. Blue piste Jandri 1 has been added to help you get back to resort from the glacier side of the valley, it's best skied earlier on in the day though as it gets quite congested when everyone is heading back to resort at the end of the day.

Riding the reds

Fee 4 and 5 off the top of the Sautet chair offer a long descent over varied terrain down to the Fee chair. After fresh snowfall they bash a trail down one side, leaving plenty of opportunities for on-piste powder all the way down. Back in the main ski area, the reds off the top of the Bellecombe chair attract little traffic and their north facing aspect means great snow conditions even late in the season.

Getting to grips with the blacks

Fee 5 off to the right before mid-station is a steep and hairy ride down into the Fee sector if you can remember where the turnoff is. Fans of moguls should have a look at Bellecombes 6, steep, bumpy and right underneath the Bellecombes chair where everyone can see you wipe out and slide half the run on your bum. But the bulk of the resort’s black runs are lower down on the way back down to the village – avoid crowds on the Valentin by heading for the Diable runs at the other end of resort. Diable 2 in particular gets little traffic, and if you’re lucky you could have it more or less to yourself.

Something different for a change

2 Alpes is short of trees, but if you fancy a tree-lined run, head down to Mont de Lans. If you find yourself caught up in queues first thing in the morning, abandon the main lifts on the Jandri side and head for the Vallee Blanche, where you can ski quiet pistes in the sunshine while everyone else gets involved in the scrum.
