There are a number of different passes available this winter; prices can vary according to age, how many of you there are, how many days you want to ski and so on. Planning ahead can help you make the most of your holiday - and hopefully save you some money! You can buy or recharge your lift pass online here.
Les 2 Alpes Super Ski Pass
Les Deux Alpes Super Ski pass gives unlimited access to 51 lifts and 225km of piste, ranging in altitude from the glacier at 3600m all the way down to Mont de Lans at 1300m. It is available for 1-15 day durations as well as three half-day options starting from 9am, 11.30am and 1.30pm, if you fancy taking it easy one day. Season and non-consecutive day versions of this pass are also available.
Passes valid for 2 days or more also entitle you to free entry into the swimming pool and ice skating ring (skate hire not included), but if you're buying a 6 day pass plus, you can also ski for free in the following neighbouring resorts in the Grande Galaxie ski area:
2 days in Alpe d'Huez/Oz/Vaujany (Shuttle bus runs twice a week throughout the season - €8.50 return and also possibility of a helicopter link!)
1 day in Serre Chevalier/Puy St Vincent
1 day in Montgenevre
1 day in Sestriere (Italy)
Unlimited access to La Grave and Les Vallons de la Meije when the link is open
As of winter 09/10, it is now no longer necessary to go to the cash desk in these other resorts before hitting the slopes (except in the Italian Milky Way resorts). Simply rock up and head straight for the nearest lift!
Vallons de la Meije and La Grave These areas are additional to the main resort and accessed by hitching a ride behind a piste-basher! They are mainly off-piste and once there you will find a few chair and drag lifts. You can buy a day pass for the full Les Deux Alpes ski area plus Vallons de la Meije and La Grave, or you can have them added to your 2-5 day pass for an extra 12€ per day. They are included with any pass over 6 days.
Great Galaxy This is the name given to the wider ski area that encompasses Les Deux Alpes, Alpe d'Huez, Oz, Vaujany, Serre Chevalier and Puy St Vincent. If you buy a pass for 6 days or more you will be able to enjoy 1 day in Serre Chevalier or Puy St Vincent, or 2 days in any of the other resorts.
Beginners Lift Passes & Free Lifts in Les Deux Alpes
Free Lifts If you want to go for a quick spin on arrival day but your lift pass doesn't kick in until the following morning, then there are 7 free drag lifts in Deux Alpes, at the bottom of the main ski runs. They are mainly targeted at encouraging beginners to find their feet as the slopes are very gentle, but you can also use then to get your legs back at the start of your holiday.
Beginners If you are a complete beginner it is likely that you will be joining ski school for most of your stay, so it is worth discussing with them which pass option is best suited for their beginner groups. However, for the days when you may not be in ski school there are a couple of day or half day pass options for you to consider:
Foot of the Pistes: a half day pass that gives you access to the gentle lifts and slopes around the valley floor
Ski Sympa: valid for the day and gives unlimited access to 21 ski lifts suitable for beginners as they grow in confidence
Should you be skiing 'en famille' this winter Les Deux Alpes offers a reduced rate pass to families with 3 or more children under the age of 18 for a minimum of 6 days. ID and proof of age will be required. Please enquire here for specific information on prices, terms and conditions.
During the summer you can ski on the glacier; with most of the runs being blue it is perfect for family skiing - there is even a snowpark for the older kids! Unfortunately there is no family pass currently on offer, but children do get a discounted rate and the pass gets you into a whole load of other family-friendly attractions in the resort. For full details of lift pass prices please see Summer Lift Passes.
Pedestrian Passes
Not everyone comes to Les Deux Alpes to ski - there are a number of walking trails that stay open throughout the winter, allowing you to access the snowy heights of the mountains and sample the high altitude restaurants at your leisure.
The pass costs €21 per day and gives unlimited access to all ski lifts accessible to non-skiers. A 6 day version of the pass is also available for €51 and includes a visit to the ice cave, 2 admissions to the swimming pool and 1 admission to the ice rink (skate rental not included). You can also pay for an individual return trip on a lift - €14 to go to 2600m or € to go to 2100m or for the descent to Venosc. There is a further reduction for walkers over 65 years.
Discounted Rate Passes
Early Season Discount If you get chance to squeeze in a winter holiday before Christmas you will find that ski passes are slightly cheaper during the first few weeks of the season. Please read Lift Pass Prices for further details.
