Pedestrian Lift Passes - Summer
You will definitely regret not bringing your walking boots to Les Deux Alpes but enjoying the high mountain trails and scenery is made all the easier when you make use of the summer lift system.
As in winter, in order to use the lifts you first need to purchase a lift ticket. You can either do this on an individual basis for the lifts you want to use; or if you're here for a week, a more economical option is to purchase a "Pass Pieton" (Walkers Pass) which is valid for 6 days and will give you unlimited access to all of the pedestrian lifts in the area. In addition, you will also get 2 entries into the swimming pool, a trip to the ice rink (skate hire not included) and free entry to the ice cave on the glacier.
It is also possible to upgrade this pass to include one day's summer skiing, as long as it is within the original validity of your ticket. |

Mountain Bike Pass
For many people, summer in Les Deux Alpes is all about the mountain biking, which is understandable as the resort boasts some pretty fantastic MTB terrain, 2 permanent downhill courses and a bike park. Whilst you can pick up a number of routes directly from the resort, in order to make the most of the 126km of sign posted bike trails, you need to take a lift up out of the valley.
All of the 10 chairlifts and cable cars in Les Deux Alpes are equipped to carry bikes in the summer so you really can explore the area at your leisure. The resort has a MTB specific lift pass for bikers, giving you unlimited access to all of the resort’s lifts, 19 downhill trails and 17 cross-country routes. Depending on the duration of your pass, it will also grant you a certain number of free entries into the swimming pool, ice rink and a reduced rate to the Adventure Park. A MTB pass of 6 days or more will also give you a day to explore the lifts and trails of neighbouring resort, Alpe d'Huez, for free!
Passes can be bought on a daily basis or savings can be made by purchasing a longer duration ticket – from 2-14 days - and non-consecutive day tickets are also available. If you just fancy a few hours in the saddle, then go for the half day pass, which has either morning or afternoon options.
If you're a bit of a park rat and just want to practice your MTB freestyle moves, then you can buy a special Bike Park pass that is only valid on the Lutins drag lift. Either pay for a single trip or a pack of 10 (unlimited access to the park and the Lutins lift is automatically included in the full MTB passes). Visit the Les 2 Alpes VTT Website to find out more about the bike park and the various trails.
The local Bureau des Guides also offers day and half day guided MTB tours of the area which can be booked at the Tourist Office between 5-7pm daily. Prices start from €50 per person for a half day introduction to downhilling and includes bike hire, protective clothing, lift pass and supervision. |

Summer Skiing
Yes skiing in summer is possible! Here you will find 4 chairlifts open, along with 7 draglifts, 2 snow tows and 1 funicular. The glacier offers 110 hectares of pisted skiing including 1 red run, 8 blue runs and 2 green runs, but the highlight of the summer is definitely the snowpark! At a height of 3200m you can play to your heart's content on the Super Pipe, half-pipe, hips, quarters, modules and boardercross. If all that sounds a bit too much like hard work then you can just hang out by the BBQ and DJ area. Competitions and events are due to be taking place all summer, so its certainly worth a look. You can find out what they've got lined up this summer with our What's On guide.
Passes for summer skiing can be bought by the day or half day with under 5's and over 72's skiing for free. Longer duration passes are also available which, in addition to the summer ski area, also give you unlimited access to the MTB and pedestrian lifts in the rest of the resort. Depending on the duration of pass you buy, you will also get a variety of additional activities included for free, such as the swimming pool, ice rink and golf range.
