The summer lifts give access to a great many MTB trails in Les Deux Alpes; there are over 30 in the area, including 21 downhill routes and 7 cross-country tracks. One of our favourites is to take the cable car up to 2600m and ride back down the Col des Gours.
The Les Deux Alpes MTB sector is split into 4 areas; Pied-Moutet, Jandri, Mont de Lans and Venosc. There are 3 bike wash stations situated in Vallée Blanche, le Diable and back in the centre of resort. Downhill biking is super popular in Les Deux Alpes and so efforts are constantly being made to improve the trails, add more areas and introduce more lemmings (sorry, people!) to the sport.
The Pied-Moutet sector is the best for newbies and kids; starter slopes are graded green and blue, much like on a ski piste, and it is the closest area to the resort. This sector is aimed at families and first-timers and is great for getting your confidence up and practising your new techniques. (Read further on in this article for a few insider tips on how to handle your bike!) You can test yourself against the clock every week on the Lutins track, when there is a timed downhill descent. You will only be allowed to take part if you are wearing adequate protective clothing; if you don't have your own kit you can hire some from most bike shops.

| Bike Park des Lutins |
As well as a multitude of marked and maintained tracks there is also the Bike Park des Lutins; new in 2005 it bills itself as the premier bike park in the Oisans and features a 4X, slopestyle zone, loads of jumps, boxes, tables and more.
Laid out by local mountain bike champion Carmine Falco it is constantly being improved and extended. Access is free and even if you aren't a demon in the bike park yourself it's often worth a visit for the demos and shows that are a feature of the summer - you'll often see famous riders putting the park to the test.
The resort offers a number of different lift passes with mountain bikers specifically in mind, so whether you're a hardcore downhiller, a park rat or a leisurely peddler, you'll find something to suit.
