If you are unlucky enough to find yourself in Les Deux Alpes when the rain is pouring and the wind is howling, or if you simply want to have a day off from all of those extreme sports you've put your body through, there's no shortage of things for you to do in Les Deux Alpes. Whether you fancy some pampering at a beauty salon, want to catch a movie at the cinema, or take the kids to the sport centre; here's a few suggestions to keep you entertained during your stay.
Arcades & 10 Pin Bowling
Arcades & 10 Pin Bowling
Les Deux Alpe has 2 bowling alleys to choose from: Bowling le Strike and Bowling les Deux Alpes 1800.

Bowling le Strike has arcade games, table football, pool tables and - of course - ten pin bowling! There is also Le Strike, a licensed bar where you can grab a drink and a few snacks; look out for their regular competitons and theme nights.

The bowling alley opens from 5pm-2 am, except for during the Christmas and February holidays when it opens early at 3pm; they may also open early on bad weather days.

Discounts are available to anyone with a 6 day ski pass, please see here for details.

Bowling les Deux Alpes 1800 can be found at Club Forme 1800. It has 6 lanes, video games and billiard tables and also stays open until 2am. Normal opening is 5pm, but may be earlier during school holidays or when bad weather chases us all of the mountains.

Discounts are available on group bookings and the centre can also be hired out for private parties, please enquire here to find out more.

You'll also find 2 'Salle de Jeux', or games arcades, in resort. Dragon's Lair has all the latest games; it is in the Galerie Lou Véno on Avenue de la Muzelle and is open from 10am to midnight. Le Palace is in the Immeuble la Croisette on Rue des Sagnes and has a pub, billiard tables and an array of games for children and adults.

Cinema
Cinema
Les Deux Alpes' Cinéma le Slalom shows a variety of films in both French and English. VO stands for 'Version Originale', which means it will be shown in its original language - perhaps with subtitles (sous titres). Watching a film with subtitles can be a great way to learn a few new French phrases - their usefulness will depend entirely on the kind of film you are watching though!

Grotte de Glace (Ice Caves)
Grotte de Glace (Ice Caves)
The Les Deux Alpes ice caves are a magical grotto of glistening sculptures and fairytale figures. Dug out many years ago by two local guides they have become an annual feature; each winter expert ice sculptors arrive to create a new exhibition based on a different theme every year. At 3400m the caves are accessible via a ski lift and a funicular.

Museums & Galleries
Le Chasal Lento
Le Chasal Lento
Whether your interest lies in the history of mountaineering, Alpine flora & fauna, or the cultures and traditions of Les Deux Alpes you are sure to find plenty to keep you absorbed in the local museums and exhibitions.

The permanent collection at the Maison de la Montagne is dedicated to the animals, birds, plants and flowers of the region. Many Alpine creatures are shy by nature and here you can learn where to spot them and how to recognize them, as well as how to identify some of the beautiful flowers that you may see whilst out walking. The Maison de la Montagne also hosts temporary exhibitions, often reflecting aspects of local life. The current theme is the bicycle through the ages, from the early velocipede to the sophisticated racing and mountain bikes of today.

The Musée Alpinisme in nearby St Christophe en Oisan charts the history of mountaineering and Alpinism over the years. It recalls the memories of some of the earliest mountain guides and there are films and photographs to help recreate the images of the past.

If you are visiting the village of Mont de Lans call into Le Chasal Lento, a homage to a traditional way of life. Here you can learn about the arts, culture and history of the village as told by the locals themselves. Entry is free and there are often extra exhibitions relating to local culture. The village of Mont de Lans is well worth a wander round; there is a weekly market, the ruins of a Roman gateway and a beautiful old stone church. You can take guided walking tours with the Mont de Lans Tourist Office.

If you fancy a day out of the resort Grenoble has many fine museums and galleries; including the Museum of the French Revolution, Le Magazin - National Centre for Contemporary Art, the Musée de Grenoble and a number of chateaux, churches and historic buildings.

For further details please see here.
